Description

A short drive from Kamala town, along the winding coast road known locally as 'Millionaire's Mile', sits Cape Sol, a luxury estate of ocean front villas. At the foot of the estate is Villa Ying, alongside sister property Villa Yang.

Villa Yin was designed by architectural firm Naga Concepts and was completed in 2008 after four years of design, planning and construction.  It has a classical Thai style with separate pavilions stretching down the hillside, yet it also has a contemporary feel.

The four distinct levels of the property all have stunning ocean and sunset views and are linked via a unique under-lit glass staircase.  The entry level has a covered reception area which looks out over the richly landscaped gardens and Andaman Sea and a self contained guest pavilion is also located on this level.

The main living area, located further down the hillside, is testament to the owner’s love of art.  An open plan pavilion houses the living and dining rooms and ultra modern kitchen.

The living room is decorated with a Ciu Xiuwen photo called “Angel No. 5” and “Wanted Dog,” a pair of bull terrier sculptures, one jet black and one gold, by the European artist Aurele and lavish red and black sculptured vases which the owner purchased in The Philippines.   In the dining room is a Zhu Yi Yong painting, “No. 10,” a smiling child making a cat’s cradle out of red string.

From the living area, an internal staircase leads to the house’s lowest level, which has a 74m2 master bedroom suite and two guest bedrooms. All three bedrooms open onto an outdoor terrace that has wooden steps leading to the rocks and sea below.

In the master bedroom, the headboard is a one metre tall, triangular wood carving dating from the 18th century and to one side of the bed hangs “Manipulations 2008” by the artist Shi Lifeng, an image of a large red hand dripping blood that, on closer inspection, turns out to be androgynous human figures. The owner says this painting, estimated to be worth $50,000, is his favorite in the house.

The villa has 604m2 of indoor space and another 432m2 of balconies, decking and outdoor space. The 18m infinity pool is lined with grey marble which reflects the colour of the sky, shining hues of blues and purples.

Villa Yin stands in lush tropical gardens, with traveler palms, frangipani trees and tropical flowers
